Meermin Opens E-Commerce Store
Meermin just opened their e-commerce store. Now you can purchase their shoes directly online instead of having to email them to place an order. They sent me a free pair of dark brown derbys over the summer and I was so impressed with the value that I recently bought a pair of their suede double monks. After European tax deductions and shipping charges, most of their shoes come in at about $210, though they come down to a bit less per pair if you buy multiple pairs in order to combine shipping.
Note that some people on StyleForum have reported being hit with customs, which is about $50 for each pair of shoes (at least for US customers), but whether the government decides to tack on customs is hit or miss. Kind of comes with the territory of ordering from overseas companies. Still, even at $260, I think these are incredibly well priced.
If you’d like to get a better sense of Meermin’s lasts (i.e. shoe shapes), you can refer to this. For sizing advice, email Meermin.
Need some suede boots for winter. hmm

Passaggio Cravatte bespoke experience Part II
A few days ago I wrote about ordering a bespoke tie by Passaggio Cravatte, and I thought I’d share the end result with my readers. The result is beyond my expectations, I’d even go as far as saying that the tie is the most well-made tie that I have. The 7-fold construction is very solid, you can actually count all the folds, there are many companies who claim to have 7-fold ties when they are really not. Also, the tie is completely handmade which is a nice detail, if you look at the pictures above you’ll see the stitches that are beautifully imperfect.
A tie takes about 4-6 weeks to be made, I’m guessing that they have a lot of work and of course, you don’t wanna be in a rush when you create a luxurious tie. The pricing is pretty high, however if you compare the pricing with Drake’s and E.Marinella etc you’ll only have to pay like 20-30% more. You’ll have to pay at least 150€, probably more if you’re going for a 7-fold construction.
Overall I’m very happy with my purchase, for me it’s all about details and bespoke makes that possible, I’ll definitely be back for more.To make an order, simply contact Gianni by E-mail: cerutti.gianni@gmail.com
Bespoke ties? I’m not sure if I’m ready for this yet. But for those that are…partake.
Turn Any eBay Search Into an RSS Feed
We’ve written in our guide to menswear eBay shopping about using RSS feeds to keep track of your favorite eBay searches. It’s an essential part of how I put together our eBay roundups, and much more convenient than using eBay’s favorite search system.
The bad news, though, is that with eBay’s redesign, their inclusion of the “RSS” icon at the bottom of searches has become maddeningly inconsistent. Sometimes it’s there, little and orange and welcoming. Sometimes it’s completely absent. So what’s a dedicated searcher to do?
Simple. A PTO reader put me on to a great little trick to get an RSS feed for ANY search on eBay. Simply execute the search, copy the URL in the address bar, then add “&_rss=1” at the end. Without the quotes, of course. The result is a feed that you can paste into your Google Reader or other RSS reader, easy as pie.
It’s that simple.
(And by the way: don’t forget to subscribe to our RSS feed while you’re at it, and never miss a post!)
Great advice for you ebay power users.
